Serrata is named for its exploration of serrated texture. Forms that make up the shade take cues from the leaves of Agave, but are left open enough that they may also suggest the bodies of crustaceans or ancient anthropogenic artifacts.

The body is split in two sections, and entirely covered in a texture of fissures and ridges. The wood that forms the body is local estate grown and felled coast redwood and salvaged valley oak. 

The dangly drum shade produces a pleasant sound when agitated.
